Breast augmentation is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in the world. Maybe that’s because a full and shapely bust is a key attribute of feminine beauty. If you would like to improve the shape, size, or symmetry of your breasts, a breast augmentation may be right for you. This plastic surgery procedure can enhance your confidence and self-esteem by giving you a curvier, and more feminine silhouette.
Dr. LaDawn Talbott makes a priority to produce natural-looking results for breast augmentation patients. This helps patients feel more comfortable with their new appearance. It is also important to note that breast augmentation is different from a breast lift, although there are instances where Dr. Talbott combines the two cosmetic breast surgery procedures to achieve a more comprehensive breast enhancement.
The best candidates for breast augmentation are women who would like to:
- Enhance their breast size, shape, and projection
- Correct breast symmetry, so their breasts are proportionate to the rest of their bodies
- Increase breast volume following pregnancy, breastfeeding, or considerable weight loss
- Achieve a more feminine and desirable body shape
These are just a few of the reasons women undergo breast augmentation or enhancement. The decision to have breast augmentation, however, should be completely your own. During your complimentary consultation, Dr. Talbott will talk to you about your goals and expectations in order to ensure that you’ll be happy and comfortable with your outcome.

Types of Breast Implants
Saline and silicone are the two types
of breast implants approved by the FDA.
Saline Breast Implants
Saline breast implants are filled with sterile salt water. During the breast augmentation surgery, they are inserted empty, which allows for smaller incisions, and then filled with saline once in place. Saline implants are approved by the FDA for breast augmentation surgery in women age 18 or older.
Silicone Breast Implants
Silicone breast implants are pre-filled with a gelatin-like silicone. The material and consistency mimic the feel of natural breast tissue, making silicone a popular choice among women. This type of implant is FDA-approved for breast augmentation in women age 22 or older.
If you’re not sure which type of breast implant is best for you, don’t worry. During your breast augmentation consultation, Dr. LaDawn Talbott will help you make an informed decision about which implant best suits your body type.

Breast Augmentation Procedure
Breast augmentation surgery can improve the size and symmetry of the breasts. During a breast augmentation procedure, incisions can be placed in a number of places, depending on the body type, size of breasts, and the desired result and cosmetic goals of the patient. Dr. Talbott routinely performs these types of incisions:
- Beneath the breast (inframammary incision)
- Around the areola (periareolar incision)
- Under the arm (transaxillary incision)
Dr. Talbott makes the incisions as discreetly as possible so patients are left with minimal visible scarring.
After the incisions have been made, viscous silicone breast implants or sterile saline breast implants are inserted either directly under the breast tissue or behind the chest wall muscle, increasing the size of the breast. Dr. Talbott then closes the incision with internal sutures. A breast augmentation procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia and completed in a few hours.
Breast Augmentation Recovery
Breast augmentation surgery requires several days of recovery time. Patients should get plenty of rest and limit movement for the first few days after surgery, and they should expect to experience increased sensitivity, soreness, or swelling in the breast. Most patients are able to return to their normal daily activities within a week, although any strenuous activity should be avoided for at least six weeks. Dr. Talbott gives all her patients comprehensive post-operative instructions, including prescriptions for pain and various massage techniques for the breasts, to aid in the healing process.

What Our Patients Are Saying
“I was very nervous about having breast augmentation since I had never had surgery before. I originally saw another plastic surgeon but felt uncomfortable with him at times. When I first met Dr. Talbott, I immediately felt at ease and was comfortable with her judgment. She is very professional yet down to earth. I felt that, as a female, she could relate. I am so glad that I met Dr. Talbott. I could not have been more pleased with the care she showed me. Thank you Dr. Talbott!”
